Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road follows the coast south-west of Melbourne and makes a popular weekend road trip for many Melburnians. Its most famous landmark are the Twelve Apostles, great limestone stacks rising out of the ocean just off the coast, although erosion means there aren't twelve anymore - it's unclear if there ever were. Another highlight is Great Otway National Park, home to Californian Redwoods rising more than 60 metres tall. It's an enchanting place to wander through, like a cathedral of nature.

In a seaside village, on one small residential street, I saw multiple koalas hanging out in the trees, plus a handsome kookaburra. Lucky residents!
