I was lucky enough to escape the British winter and live in Melbourne for four months, from Dec 2023 to March 2024, which is Australia's summertime. Melbourne was a joy to photograph - it has sandy beaches, palm trees, beautiful city parks, charming sun-worn Victorian architecture, a huge botanical garden, numerous art galleries, countless murals and...street parties! And it has long, warm, golden evenings when colonies of fruit bats fly over the city. It was easy to see why Melbourne scores so highly on surveys of the most liveable cities, and it certainly won a place in my heart.
