Sovereign Hill

Photographing Sovereign Hill was a delight! Especially for someone like me who loves all things historical. Sovereign Hill is a reconstruction of a Victorian mining camp built during Victoria's gold rush. You can still panhandle for flakes of gold in the stream that runs through the camp. I loved the care and detail with which the camp had been reconstructed - as a living, breathing small town, with schools, shops, bars, even a hotel. People were busy at work in a candle making factory and a carpenters. And the town's citizens - in Victorian dress- act out their dramas with each other on the streets.
