Tasmania
Tasmania is a marvellous place! It's about half the size of England but has just 1% of the population, and is a dream for people looking to enjoy the great outdoors without the crowds. We started off in bustling port city of Hobart, where we took the ferry to the extraordinary 'adult playground' of MONA. Then we travelled inland to Lake St Clair, the deepest lake in Australia, where we stayed on the lake in a converted pumphouse. It was lovely to wake up surrounded by water and chirping birds at the windows. Finally, we travelled to Great Oyster Bay, where we climbed down (then back up!) one thousand steps to reach Wineglass Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. While at the beach I met a wallaby, who hopped up to me and gave me a sniff, then hung around for a time.
